These necklaces are made as a small business venture by women’s groups in villages surrounding the town of Jinja in Eastern Uganda. These groups are primarily made up of widows, who use the proceeds to support their families. The store in which we bought the beads sources them directly from a variety of these women’s groups in different villages, ensuring that a fair price is always paid. All proceeds from the sale of the necklaces in Australia will go towards One Village projects. These unique beads are made by hand rolling, dying, and lacquering thin strips of paper, to create a colour spectacular! A variety of colours and styles are available, but we have limited stock so hurry in to secure your own unique paper bead necklace! Please note: The photos are only a guide to colours… no two necklaces are exactly the same…which is the great thing about them! Shipping is $5.00 for the first necklace and $3 for unlimited additional necklaces, also consider grabbing a tshirt in the same order to save on shipping! |
