Adelaide City to Bay – Running for ChangeThe trip between Namwendwa village and Kamuli Town is approximately 15 km similar to the distance between City and the Bay. The committee makes this trip for the day to day running of One Village in Uganda. All of the administrative duties, communication with the Australian committee and research for all projects depend on this trip. It is a very time consuming and often risky trip because the only way our volunteers can travel there is on public transport. The main forms of public transport are overcrowded mini-vans (Matatus), which only leave when they are full (rather than following a schedule) or motorcycle taxis, both driving way to fast along roads in poor condition, (Check out the journey here). Our next project is therefore to fundraise for a Motorcycle for the Ugandan Committee in Namwendwa. Communal use of the motorcycle will mean that our Ugandan committee can improve the efficiency and safety with which they undertake One Village tasks. It will also mean that we can ultimately reduce our already small admin costs further by no longer having to pay for inefficient dangerous public transport. WE HAVE NEARLY REACHED OUR TARGET, ONLY $400 LEFT...
