Nikki Lovell founded One Village in early 2007 and has spent the best of 3 years living and working in the rural village of Namwendwa, Uganda. In this area,

• 1 in 7 children die before the age of 5
• 45% of children are malnourished
• 50% do not have safe drinking water
• 88% of children do not have access to Secondary education

BUT it doesn't have to be this way.

"The passion, motivation and pure determination of the people of Namwendwa to create real and lasting change for their community blew me away. I realised that if I were able to support the community with knowledge, skills and resources, the community would then be able to shape their own future. "

One Village is committed to supporting the community of Namwendwa. One Village has a vision of empowering rural communities in Uganda with knowledge, skills and resources in a way which is sustainable. All of One Village's projects and programs are initiated and executed by the communities in Uganda.
